What happened to the 'look but don't read' mod?

I was hoping to get some insight on this. I want members to a see a specific board and browse its message index, but not entire the individual threads.

There was a security report (confirmed) on that mod - so it was removed pending an update.
Unfortunately, the author's last comment on making an update was a year ago - so it doesn't look like he's going to do so any time soon
