Time stamp

Hello,

I have a SMF 1.1.20 site that has a problem with the time stamp for messages and posts. The time stamp works on posts and messages for the current day. Once the forum date changes the message or post, the time stamp goes away.

This forum would have been upgraded long ago, but the administrator was resistant to change. How can I resolve this? I tried restoring older system files without success.
