Adding custom pages manually?

Hello, I've looked on the forums for a way to add custom pages manually and have my own HTML on one of the pages and have a tab link back to it.

There were a few guides but they seemed to be outdated, and the mods for creating pages cut my HTML in half and won't let me add more text.

You could try using a portal. ( Simpleportal )
There you can add new pages and new blocks with your html code

Wymon

Just tried it, but its still cutting my html off after a # of lines.

Thanks for the suggestion though!  :)

Well, you could go and change the character count for the pages in the portal.

Quote from: Eliana Tamerin
It seems that SP uses the TEXT type for the body of pages, which restricts you to about 65,000 characters. You can change this, however.

You can use phpMyAdmin, go to your database and open the {prefix}sp_pages table. It should look something like this:

Now, click on the edit (the pencil) button next to the body value, which should take you to a page like this:

Now you can change the type from TEXT to MEDIUMTEXT (which can store about 16 million characters) or LONGTEXT (which can store over 4 billion characters).

Save and enjoy!

In your case, may need to use LONGTEXT, as SP now comes with it set to MEDIUMTEXT

Wymon

Tried but still getting cut off at the same line.

Thanks though :)

Burke ♞ Knight

Hmm... Have you thought that it may be an error in the code you are inserting?
Sounds to me, like there's something wrong at that point in the code.

Kindred

Please paste the exact code that you are trying to use to create the page.

I sincerely doubt you are hitting the limits - you'd have to be putting in at least a *megabyte* of text to hit any actual limits.

What *exactly* are you trying to post? I'm willing to bet it's cutting off at a long hyphen, a smart quote or smart apostrophe.

Here is the exact html

And exactly where does it cut off?

And why are you not using correct html for the bulleted list?

This isn't mine just simply putting on what I was told to... so the bullets aren't of my doing.

Kindred

Well, they are wrong... So whatever created the code for you is wrong.

Use ul and Li tags to format it correctly.

I have noticed some errors in the coding.
When doing font color in HTML, you need # before the number:

Instead of:
<font color="008AB8">

Should be this:
<font color="#008AB8">

<i><b>Terms & Agreement<b><br>
<br>
• You are using your personal funding source or an <b>approved</b> source by someone else, fraudlent transactions that are disputed may end up in legal repercussions.<br>
• All Day Gaming may be shut down at any given time without notice, you are still not entitled to a refund under any circumstances.<br>
• You are donating solely to help fund the communities services, you are not entitled to, but may expect in-game benefits as graditude of donating.<br>
• In-game benefits are not granted immediately, you must wait until payment is confirmed by PayPal and the owner of All Day Gaming, someone with proper authority will enstate the benefits as soon as they are available to do so.<br>
• You are not entitled to a refund under any circumstance.<br>
<br>
</i>

Really is not looking right. Should be something more like this:

<em><b>Terms & Agreement<b></em>
<ul>
<li><em>You are using your personal funding source or an <b>approved</b> source by someone else, fraudlent transactions that are disputed may end up in legal repercussions.</em></li>
<li><em>All Day Gaming may be shut down at any given time without notice, you are still not entitled to a refund under any circumstances.</em></li>
<li><em>You are donating solely to help fund the communities services, you are not entitled to, but may expect in-game benefits as graditude of donating.</em></li>
<li><em>In-game benefits are not granted immediately, you must wait until payment is confirmed by PayPal and the owner of All Day Gaming, someone with proper authority will enstate the benefits as soon as they are available to do so.</em></li>
<li><em>You are not entitled to a refund under any circumstance.</em></li>
</ul>
