Hi, a forum running SMF 1.1.20 with no mods displays a category at the bottom of the forum for regular members, while for admin members it shows properly around the middle of the other categories.

Ran all maintenance to no avail. No matter where category is moved, it only shows at the bottom  for regular members.

Also tried adding a new category, and it too only showed at the bottom. Any ideas?

Do your regular members have the ability to see boards in those categories that, for you, appear below that troublesome one?

SimpleJoe

Hello, yes regular members have access to view all boards.

Not sure if this will help for your version of SMF, but have a read of this "topic".

EDIT: Hmm, in hindsight maybe that's a red herring.

Hi, this first link didn't work because unfortunately that is for version 2.x.

The second link suggests the board needs to upgrade to 2.x as we are using mysql 5.6 so apparently this is the answer.

Thank you for the tip, unless there is another fix, looks like we'll be upgrading to 2.x

Good luck with that - you know it makes sense ;)

(PS, next time you wander past you can mark this topic as "solved", maybe?)

If you run a forum with no mods your best move is really to move to 2.0.x as 1.1 is becoming EOL ;)

And if you're using MySQL 5.6, chances are that you are using PHP 5.5+ (or will be shortly) and 1.1.x doesn't work correctly with it ;)

Thanks, that's good to know going forward
