Is it possible to rewrite the board links like http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=12.0 to something like http://www.simplemachines.org/community/wesitelinks.html, http://www.simplemachines.org/help/php_configuration_help.html etc, so that it would be more search engine friendly.

I have no PHP skills. Any mod to do this? If not which php file to edit and point the board url to the new html search engine friendly url?

You can install Pretty URLs, SimpleSEF or similar MODs.
Be advised that these MODs have ZERO benefit in SEO and can cause you problems with other MODs. You can choose to install them, or not ;)

are you really using 2.1?

Based on other topics, 2.0.9 is the forum version being used, so I'm moving this.

There is very little benefit to rewriting urls these days, all of the major search engines do a lot more complex checks on the data in the page body, meta tags and urls aren't really used any more, the only advantage is that it looks nicer and is easier to remember.

and even if there was a benefit to using something like pretty urls...   adding html to the end is worse than useless.

that concept has not been useful for 10 years now...
