Good Morning All,

SMF 2.0.10 w/Smple Portal =>  http://www.KhonKaenForum.net

This EXACT same issues has been discussed here before, but the threads are several years old now, and there was never a definitive solution or even identification of the problem.  With the closing of RSS Graffiti last month, the issue is more important than ever. I am just trying to post recent SMF posts on my FB pages.

Here is an RSS feed from one of my forums.  The link is valid, it shows me the RSS feed and then I go to one of the online link checkers, it confirms it is valid.

Quotehttp://www.khonkaenforum.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=fff0d76546921741edd90977ca7acc63&type=rss;action=.xml

Trying to use it on twitterfeed.com, I consistently get the following message. The exact same thing happens with RSS feeds from other forums I have as well.

Quote from: Twitterfeed.comYour feed might be empty or missing publish dates or GUIDs. A feed needs to contain publish dates or GUIDs in order to work with twitterfeed, see help

They refer you to documention which is circular and doesn't really tell you what to do about the problem.

I have tried other similar services, and get similar "invalid" messages from several different feeds. I have tried tweaking the RSS URL according to various suggestions, but no joy!

I have googled this all over the place, and the problem keeps popping up for OP, but no one has a solution or even an explanation that you can understand or work with.

This is a really nice enhancement to SMF/FB.  I sure hope someone can help out this time.

Thanks, lah!

Your feed does contain pubDate and guid as expected so I have no idea why does twitterfeed refuses it.
You can try type=rss2 or other supported types but I don't expect any changes

You should, however, not add the PHPSESSID stuff to the link. Add it just like
http://www.khonkaenforum.net/index.php?action=.xml;type=rss

I would suggest you to try to contact twitterfeed (I don't see a forum on their site but...)

Thanks a million Marge!  I just wrote to Twitterfeeds.com Support.  Hopefully they will do more than just refer me back to their documentation which was not helpful in the first place.  Yesterday, I wrote to a couple of the other services as well. Let's see what comes back, if anything.  Anyone else have any hands-on with this problem?  It comes up often enough on google.  It is surpirsing that no real solutions have been posted.

Actually, I did get some partial success with PostPlanner.  I am not sure how or why that worked, but that's my project for today.

Thanks, lah!

Is there a way to only get the recent threads as opposed to posts? Similar to how RSS Graffiti used to work?

Not sure why you posted in this topic instead of opening a new topic (it's not exactly related :P ) but you probably want to include the "news" argument in your feed URL

I think he's trying to do the same thing, based on a subsequent thread.

rexall9000, try:

URL_to_forum?action=.xml;type=rss2;sa=news;limit=10

I was getting errors in a different program until I added the "type" option.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the discussion and the replies.  My skill set is minimal and I finally reached my frustration level trying to sort all of this out, so I signed up with postRSS  http://postrss.com/, a fee-based service.  And not the cheapest one either, but a tried two other fee-based services and couldn't get them to work.  postRSS worked first time, right out of the box and as I have five forums and a WP site, it is not too expensive if you spread the costs on a per-site basis.  I don't like the way it handles graphics, and that is my next project, but I believe the problem has something to do with the way FB handles "og" metatags.

You can see it in action at my Khon Kaen Forum FB page here =>  https://www.facebook.com/khonkaenforum

Thanks for your help.

JBlaze

rexall9000 are you still having issues with your RSS feeds? If not, please mark this topic as solved :)
