Hi all.  I've been using SMF for years, very casually.  Its a great tool.

I just installed a new forum on my LAMP server, and seeing pages like http://puu.sh/jnpxQ/9399b44145.png [nofollow]

I checked one of my old forums (now redirected) on the same server and they look normal  http://asic.carpenter-farms.us [nofollow]

The new forum is brand new.  I just finished going through install.php.

Originally I figured something was badly dated on my server, but then checked the old forum.  Admittedly, that is still possible, since the old forum was running 2.0.9 and the new one was installed with a fresh download of 2.0.10.

I'm guessing this is something stupid on my part - but would sure appreciate a pointer.

There's more to activating a moved SMF system than simply lifting and shifting ;)

Repair_settings.php - your saviour

Steve

Do you still need to run that on a new installation Shambles? That's the one he says he's having trouble with.

I guess not, but it can't help.

Must have misread the original text as a moved forum, not a freshly installed one.

Yeah but repair_settings is the answer.

We know that in certain circumstances Settings.php fails to be written at install so the paths get the "default" 127.0.0.1

That is an amazing tool!  A bit scary that it displays my mysql password, but understandable.

Their were two problems.  A missing queryless URL and a lot of 127.0.0.1 urls.  Put those to the defaults and all is well!

Thanks folks!!!

Steve

Don't forget to remove that file. :)
