Packages FTP Problem

Hi!

I have a problem with the FTP connection of Package Manager. When i fill the boxes with my correct FTP infos it says unable to connect...
Is it a problem because i connect with sftp?
The complete SMF-Folder owned by the root user. Is that a problem?
I don´t know whats wrong...

SMF uses FTP not SFTP to set the permissions. also you should not have the folders owned by root. that is a security risk.

Should i own the Folders by www-data? to sftp to ftp i have to install proftpd or?

SMF doesn't support SFTP so you need to set permissions manually via SSH or a SFTP client. Most FTP clients actually support SFTP too.

The "problem" with the owner of the folders is not related to this question. It's "just" a security concern
