Force someone to fill in a profile field?

Hi guys,

I've recently implemented my own version of the "Location Map" plugin as it's no longer under development. Anyway, since doing so, I've added a "Location" field to the registration page on my site, and made it a required field. However, I would all current members to fill in the "Location" field as well. So my question is this, is there a way to engineer a popup that appear when members login, that forces them to fill in the location field before being able to continue to the rest of the site?

I'm assuming there's no simple way of doing this, but if you don't ask, you'll never know.

In theory, you "just" need to load the members profile fields in every page load (loadMemberContext?) and check if that field is empty. If so, forward them to the profile page and display a small message why.
