Doing a fresh install of 2.0.11 on Ubuntu Server running Apache2.

1) Run installer, when prompted for Forum URL I provide: http://ark.binarymethod.com/smf [nofollow]
2) Finish installer, visit site and have no themes or CSS
3) Research, reset themes to use http://ark.binarymethod.com/smf [nofollow]
4) Themes work but all links point to internal 10.0.1.118 IP address
5) Try changing Forum Url in management UI, never changes after pressing save
6) Manually changed Form Url in Settings.php on host, no effect
7) Tried repair_settings.php to change all URL's to http://ark.binarymethod.com/smf [nofollow], no effect
8) Changed Ubuntu 'hostname' from phpdev to ark.binarymethod.com [nofollow]
9) Added ServerName ark.binarymethod.com [nofollow] to Apache2 configs

I'm out of ideas, does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Illori

i cant get your forum to load here to even take a look... can you fix that?

Shambles

"Driving me nuts" as a thread title is a little non-descriptive.

I can access the website from work, clients and even had a friend try.  He said it took a second but it showed up.

Illori

i got it to somewhat load... although it is still loading.

your ip address is being used for all the theme paths. it should be using the same URL as your forum.

try repair_settings.php again and be sure your URL that you are calling it from is the same you want the URL to be.

Illori

as i said the URL you browse to when going to repair_settings.php should be the SAME URL you want to have the file suggest. you are not doing that.

binarygod

I have been, next post has image, misunderstood

binarygod

Or did you mean I should be using the FQDN, I have been.

Illori

no idea why it is not suggesting the correct URL. i think you have more issues on your hands then just the theme not loading correctly.

binarygod

You know what?  You pushed me in the right direction, the comment about this should show the URL that I'm browsing to got me thinking.

I only have one public IP and I host a multitude of development servers, PHP ASP etc etc.  So I have one entry point, my IIS 7 server, and then I'm using proxy to look at the headers and direct traffic to the internal server as needed, I'll bet that is the issue.

I thank you for the help!

binarygod

IIS 7 and URL Rewriting is what is causing the issue.

binarygod

Solution:

Leave URL Rewriting in place on IIS Server, add an entry to the hosts file so FQDN resolves to internal server.  Change URL Rewrite rule to use FQDN as rewrite destination.

Great!  Thanks again for bouncing ideas with me Illori, you definitely helped shed some light on the issue!
