mighty_joe_young

High Quality Support

Should you run into any problem, SMF's experienced Support Team will come to your aid, along with our very helpful community members, ready to assist you and address whatever issue(s) you are encountering.

thats what it says on the home page  of smf

I have been asking for a bridge  for oxwall  for something like two years on the smf forums  ,i thought people could code on here  ,but i guess most or just full of bull

i dont think you can do with much more add on`,s    we need more bridges  or people missing the point on sfm

I'm sorry that you feel that way - but realistically...    we develop SMF here.   We are all volunteers -- and we have a limited number of developers. Those developers are spending their time DEVELOPING *SMF*.

We do attempt to provide fast and good support -- and, I think we do a bang-up job of it...
What you are asking for goes well beyond support, though... you are asking for a brand new bridge to be developed.
A bridge that only four people - in four years - have asked for....

Given our resource pool - we choose to use our resources in areas which will most benefit the community -- and I don't see "oxwall" as a huge benefit or desire of the majority, or even a minority of our community.

You can always offer to PAY someone to develop the bridge for you...
Or ask on the Oxwall support site for someone there to develop a bridge from their software to SMF...

I have been asking for about two years for a bridge for oxwall ,i dont no if its a lack of skill  from the php coders on smf  ,

Smf rely needs bridges now ,i think there is more than enough plugins for smf

If these coders want to build something ,then at least build things we all want and need

mighty_joe_young

I agree  ,but the main things that smf  need or being overlooked  .Smf would be brillant  if there were many more bridges

margarett

Attitude won't do it any better, I'm afraid ;)

Bridges are very complicated things as they mess with sessions, database interaction, cookies, etc. It requires a good knowledge of both systems to be bridged. Considering that I (and probably many other users here) never even heard about oxwall before your post, you can see where this goes, right?

And let me be clear: bridges are not even close to the Support responses you're alluding to. We are proud of the Support we provide to the vast majority of questions asked in our boards, questions directly related to our product. Bridges are NOT strictly related to our product, so that is not a good comparison ;)

Exactly! This is a 2-way road ;)

I am sorry if you feel i have an attitude ,i would say more of trying to point out what smf is missing

course it takes time to build bridges ,but is it not worth the time and effort  .

you can only build so many plugins for smf .

i think people should start concentrating on building some good bridges   ,and take smf  to the next level

Kindred

but you see....   that is the point.

YOU feel --   and this whole "take SMF to the next level" is YOUR opinion.
We actually have a plan for SMF. At this time, that plan does not include bridging to a software that almost no one seems to have heard of...
(Seriously, 4 requests in 4 years)
If we were to build an official bridge, it would be more likely to bridge to Joomla or possibly WordPress -- since those are regularly requested

However, if you feel very strongly about it, and would like to help support SMF (and "move it to the next level) -- then I encourage you to offer money to someone to develop the bridge -- and then, if it works well for you, donate/contribute the bridge to the SMF community

Oh I can assure that SMF is missing much more than just bridges :P
I appreciate your concerns, but it's not the message, is how you present it ;) This topic has the following subject: "what a load of rubbish" and then you quote a message from our site, about our Support. So if I'm currently Lead Support Specialist, you can understand that I get a bit defensive, not? ;)

And what Kindred said too :P

I agree  if its not bridges for oxwall  ,maybe other bridge to Joomla or possibly WordPress, that would be brilliant

I run a website  birthfamily.co.uk   i spend alot of money  making phone calls etc  to help people trace birth family members, or i would be happy to donate.

I would be more than happy to donate a bridge  ,if i pay someone to buld me a bridge in the new year  ,i would be more than happy to donate the bridge to smf ,its looks like  i am going to have to pay someone to build me the bridge

mighty_joe_young

Is there anyone on here that could build me a bridge  and how much would it cost me ? any ideas ?

Please note the word that I have bolded...

What  would be the cost  ?  just out of interest, because i am going to have to pay for one ,the forum in oxwal is just the pits ,it does not have to be a bridge which fully integrates  ,just something  when peps log into oxwal  they also or logged in SMF  .I want SMF  because it`s a good forum
What about building bridges and selling them in a smf webstore on the forum ,just a suggestion .to help support SMF

Oxwall  has got a lot of  potential and come along way  over these last two years .Oxwall has won a few awards and is doing good

It would be great  if i can eventually  get smf  into my site .

Here is the main  site http://www.oxwall.org/   if any members would like to take a look at this script

also here is my website   so you can see what you can do with oxwall  http://http://birthfamily.co.uk/ i still have a great deal of work to do on it
Oxwall is one of the easy scripts to build  a brillant website ,its so easy to work with oxwall  ,just lacks a good forum

You can use oxwall for any type of website ,whatever  you want to build oxwall is so easy to do it with

Far people that know naff all about php  ,and find it hard working with Joomla.etc  .Oxwall is your best choice

You could have a full dating site ,etc  online in say 3 hours with oxwall

This is why i want  SMF  because i agree  it is the best free forum, and much better than a few of the ones that you have to pay far, very stable, and so much time and effort being put into SMF ,like the script oxwall is free, and so good to work with  ,they would go well together .In the new year i shall  be having a bridge done ,and most defo give the bridge to SMF  .I apologies if i came over with a bad attitude.   Take my attitude has a complement because i rely want SMF  lol
