Secure/Optimal htaccess for SMF?

I'm looking for a default configuration of sorts; something that someone put their time into to make SMF _more_ secure. (to re-iterate i mean make the server secure since this isn't directly an smf issue)

I am looking into issues that could possibly go wrong, and I found a few things that don't work with what i'm doing. e.g. example.com/forum/3/ will display a template with a login area. (my current integration doesn't use the default registration or login of smf)

This is due to me using a template other than the default, but I can't disable the default template or uninstall it so i'm forced to block it with htaccess. (and i can't block _every single_ request) so i'm wondering if there is a sort of whitelist?
