Can Smiple Machines Be Used On A Word press Website?

Hello fellow simple machine users,

My name is Paul Jones. I'm an International Business Growth Specialist. I help businesses to double and triple their sales. I would like to install simple machines onto my word press website. I have a developer who has told me that it cannot be done, because my website theme conflicts with the theme of simple machines. In other words, he says that two different themes cannot be on the same website.

Unfortunately I do not know enough about building websites and I don't know if he is being truthful with me. If someone could kindly advise me on this I would really appreciate it.

Also, if anyone has experience installing simple machines onto a word press website and using the subscription feature successfully.

It will be a great help to me if you would be kind enough to provide me with detailed information that I can give to my developer on how to install it.

He is both wrong and right...

You can have smf and Wordpress running on the same site. No problem... Although you do need to be careful of some of the Wordpress supposed security addons.

You will, however, encounter issues if you try to WRAP the smf display inside the wordpress page.

I have a menu heading called forum, when you click on forum on my website, it will take you to simple machines. Is this what you are referring to that you say will cause issues, what issues would be caused?

If you are just linking to smf as a standalone link, then there will be no issues

install smf as the standard instructions, in a subdirectory or subdomain of your main website
create a menu item in WordPress that links to the forum url. plain and simple


do note....   if you want to share user information and login sessions between wordpress and smf, you will have to use the bridge addon for wordpress and mod for smf...   and I have heard mixed reviews of those.   If you don't plan to share users/sessons, then there is no problem at all

The information you provided looks promising, thank you. The main purpose of the forum is to provide users with a membership forum where they get to see and share marketing stratergies and be able to network with like minded entrepreneurs. They also get the added benefit of speaking with a business growth specialist to get answers to marketing problems they have.

I don't see why I would need to share screens or login sessions. Technical support is not a service my company provides. Is this what you were referring too?

Is it possible to download the online manual?

having a downloadable manual kinda defeats the purpose of using a wiki format....

The main reason why no such further PDFs will be produced is because of this very fact.  Most of the pages in the PDF have not been significantly updated since it was published though, so it may still be of some use.

yes it has been a while since it has been updated, but we try to do very few changes to those pages as they are available for translation. if there are any changes since then, they are extremely minor.
