Just click at a day/number like 13.

That looks like all you did was create a calendar block using one of the portals. Have you actually enabled your calendar in your admin panel yet?  Admin>Configuration>Core Features.

Doing that will then give you a new calendar link in your menu bar (home, help, profile, etc.) Once you have that calendar link, then you can use that to create events.
