Missing options after upgrading from smf 1 to 2

Following from an attempted upgrade from smf 1 to smf 2 using the large upgrade package, I now find that my forum has lost it's login / sign up buttons, and looks a bit unusual, see below.  Browsing this forum I also tried re-copying and running the upgrade without the FileZilla 'Treat files without extensions as ASCII' unticked.  I'm now stuck with a forum I can't log into or use.  Any ideas before I restore the backup of my smf 1 forum?

you need to reset your theme back to the default. SMF 1.1 themes dont work on SMF 2.0.

What is repair_settings.php? will let you easily reset to the default theme.

By the way, if that theme is Dilber MC, there is an updated version for 2.0.x
