Clean pasted text form ms word formatting

Is there any way of getting the native smf editor to clean pasted text from formatting? Some editors have a "paste as plain text"-button.

no SMF does not have that feature.

No, I figured that was the case. Maybe I can make it act like that? I'm studying the file Subs-Editor.php for an idea. Is that the right place to start?

for that you would be best to ask in the coding board. although i dont think many know a lot about the editor to help with that.

You'd need to write a fair amount of JavaScript to make that work, rewriting the editor.js file to have the relevant function; Subs-Editor.php only deals with what buttons are shown, not what happens when you click on them.

Maybe it's too much work.. too bad since there are so many users that paste away with whatever and have no knowledge of formatting at all. It would have been nice to just eliminate the problem but I realize that it's a challenge. Maybe when I got more time..
