Simpleportal Shoutbox not appearing

hello,
i am new as administrator on a smf 2.0.10 and running simple portal 2.3.6
i only need shoutbox from simple portal. but when i add a shoutbox. it's not appearing anywhere.
and tell me how to remove 'welcome to simple portal' message from front page.
