Hello,

A friend helped me build a forum which is an ASP based forum. I am tired of the workings of that forum and have decided to use the Simple Machine Forum instead. I now wish to know if there is a way i can move all my content (posts and members) from the ASP based forum to SMF. Posts in the forum go as far back as 2011 and i wouldn't want to lose these posts.

Thank you.

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

It is a bit of a job, but if you are technical you can look into making a converter:

You can also request one to be made, but if it isn't a highly used product it isn't terribly likely that a community member would be inclined to make one.

The other option is the Help Wanted (Paid Help) board. You can submit a proposal here and see if anyone is willing to take the work for pay.

To add to what Colin said:

Then it's really tricky. Most of us have 0 experience in databases other than MySQL. Even if PHP could connect to it (which it can) I'm not sure how many of us would be able to actually use it.

If you can get your MSSQL converted to MySQL (eg: http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2014/03/mssql-to-mysql/) maybe someone can create a custom converter for you. It's a long shot and maybe not for free but it might be worth to try ;)
