i am on 2.0.11 and i recently installed the "Avatars on Board and/or MessageIndex" mod so i uninstalled it.

can mods cause this problem ?

your thoughts - my site has become unstable now.

this is Apache/2.2.15 and smf says that the server is busy and cannot connect to the database - a httpd restart fixes the problem for a while.

Can you please provide the full error?
The db_fatal_error sometimes happen after another error (eg, SMF tries to log another error but it fails because of that)

I thought that was the full error.

My Webserver runs out of 'clients' but it shouldn't.

Can mods cause issues like this ?

I backed out a new mod that displays avatar info of the last poster of the topic and indexes.

There should be another error before that. Something that SMF would want to log.

Any MOD can cause problems, the more database queries you have the worse but there are users with more than 100 MODs working just fine.

Anyway try this. Open Load.php, find:

It shouldn't really matter because index.php must have already loaded Errors.php but still...

--- not quite a 100 but getting close. my system is stable now, it was the "Avatars on Board/MessageIndex" mod that i removed - as it looks up the first and last poster's avatars of the topics and index, i can see how it could be a liability. plus it is new.

i have noted my experience in the mod thread but it looks like i am the only one so far with webserver issues.

no worrisome messages in the Apache log, too.

it has to be that, as soon as i backed it off, my system got back into "snappy" mode. yay.
