my forum has recently decided to change some characters, in some instances.

as an example
' will be change to ?

this doesn't happen when the ' is entered directly from the keyboard however, if its cut-n-paste then it will change!?

I've checked the tables via phpmyadmin and the collation is set to latin_swedish_ci

I've read some of the topics on this board but they appear to be concerned with non-latin character sets so I'm wondering if changing to utf8 will make any difference?

here's a link to my site...

here's a thread with the characters changed

Yes, usually moving to utf8 will solve the problem.

it is because the single quote is not actually a single quote...   you're talking about content pasted from a program like Word...   which uses "curly quotes" (e.g. nonstandard, extended ASCII)   so, yes, you would need to switch to UTF-8 if you intend to keep using pasted content. :)
