What can I do? I call GoDaddy support and they tell me everything is always fine from their end. They blame the SMF software for my problems.

GoDaddy is driving me crazy every now and then with this same issue...the forum works fine for days, weeks or even months, then without me changing anything, suddenly I get this:

Illori

you did not change your password recently? if not then keep complaining to godaddy.

No...it was working fine till 1 hour ago then not any more.

This guy I am talking to does not have a clue and I have been on hold most of the previous 36 minutes.

RedPanda2013

50 minutes: they fixed it but the guy I was talking to had no clue about the cause.

He blamed the "limitations" of the shared hosting.  :-\

RedPanda2013

after nearly 24 hours without issues, now I got a new one  ::)

I am so angry!!!

What can I do in order to fix this one please?

Illori

RedPanda2013

he does not understand the issue :(

This new guy just told me that maybe I need to update the forum :(

How could I explain the issue to him, in plain English?

Thank you

RedPanda2013

after 25 minutes, he said that from their end everything is fine so I need to troubleshoot myself :(

Illori

there is no other way. ask him to get help from a higher level person. this is a server/host issue and nothing we can do to help you.

Something similar (with Godaddy) was reported (and fixed) here:

Quote from: article- go to the hosting page of your godaddy control panel ("Hosting Details").
- scroll down. Under 'Stats & Monitors' click on 'System Processes'.
- once it's loaded, click 'End All'. The processes will restart in a few seconds.

Worth a try...?

Thank you!

Yes this same error happened to me other times but then it was fixed within 1 hour, while yesterday after talking to few GoDaddy tech support guys, they told me that the current shared Linux hosting I was using was old and that means I only had PHP 5.3 while the new ones go up to PHP 5.7 so basically the guy adviced me to buy a new hosting plan and migrate the websites which is a big pain in the XXX!

Now that I see your last link it raises the question: did the guy BS me or not?

It may take me 3 days before I migrate just that site between downloading and uploading all files :(

Illori

if your host wants you to move to another server they should provide a service to move your files and get your forum back up and running. IMO you should look for a non-oversold host that will treat you with respect and not leave you hanging.

Well...guess what?

I own you a lot of time saving! That fixed it!

So now I am going to get mad on the phone with GoDaddy support.  >:(

Let's see what other BS they are going to tell me now that thanks to you I found the solution.

HA! I agree with you, however guess what? They wanted to charge me $100 for the migration within 10 freaking days!

No way I said...I will do it myself in 3...however now I don't have to.

Unfortunately I tried other hosting services and they were even worse. At least this one is cheap and reliable, except this freaking error which finally now I know how to fix.

Illori

most find godaddy to be less then reliable, especially when you run into issues.

take a look at our paid hosting section, i bet you can find a host at a price similar to what you are paying.
