Help with code for adsense

Hi

I have adsense activated on my forum, I am using SimplePortal as my landing page & a third party template called DS-Natural20 (that's been edited slightly) from DzinerStudio which no longer exists?, and I am currently using a 'block' on the landing page to place adsense code on (see image below)- what I would like to do is move the advert OUT of the portal system altogether and into the theme, so that it sits nicely in the center between my sites logo and the search bar.



Am i Right in thinking that the Index.template.php file is the one to edit, I have it attached if anyone would like to take a look or if someone could tell me where to place the code that would be great
