Show Unread PM Count on Index

Hello!

I am looking to show the total unread PM count on index.template.php.  I've already added a link to the inbox as well as the text on the index.enflish.php page. That works OK. I'd like to now the variable to the URL as well.   I'm learning SMF logic, but feel I'm missing something. I'm just unsure which step it is.

Well...It looks like the theme I am using changed my menu and I didn't even notice. I switched back to the default theme and low and behold...  Sorry about that. I'll continue to play with this new change and see if I can figure out how to make it work outside of the menu.  But at last that solves the initial problem.

what theme are you using?

An old theme from 1.1 that was modified (it is about 5 years old at this point).

I downloaded a new theme for 2.0 and things are working better.
