Then : I open up my Internet Browser and run : hxxp:localhost/mambo/smf/install.php [nonactive]
gimme me an error :  You're on a window server, and some crucial file are not writable.

Please help me .. many thanks

I believe you need to give the "iusr_" user full access to those folders (don't remember what the exact username is).

Also, please don't bump posts after only 15 minutes...

If you are running locally you dont need to set any permissions! you allready have them all so its probably IIS throwing a wobbly  :(

IIS is a pain in the butt - if you are just testing I use xammp in a window environment (mysql, php etc all in one easy package) & its free  :D
