That's happening when trying to install mods.. What is wrong?

do you an smf2/install.xml file in your packages/temp folder? if so remove that and try the install again. if that does not help you should post in the simple portal support topic/forum for further assistance.

I'm afraid it's still happening   It's not only happening for SimplePortal. Multiple mods.. not all although

usually, that seems to be indicative of a server configuration issue with permissions and ownership
