I'd downloaded today the SMF forum to my site

At every intent to download the file, from the downloads page - last converter -  at

http://www.simplemachines.org/download.php?converters

Windows cannot open it ! Help !

Meanwhile is working the old forum at
http://eba-stats.com/forum
and till I dont success to pass the messages I cannot put SMF online

HOW to do the conversion, step by step... easily expained, please !

Please, the answer in simple words. I am not a web master....
Thans in advance

Since you have installed SMF 1.1 RC1, you'll need the converter from this topic.

Quote from: Grudge on June 15, 2005, 04:46:34 PMTo use the new converters, first upload both "convert.php" and the file named "yoursoftware_to_smf.sql" or "yoursoftware_to_smf.php" to the same directory.  This directory can be either the directory of SMF, that of your previous software (in most cases - except XOOPS, where it should be in the same directory as XOOPS), or any other directory you prefer.  Then, access the convert.php file much like you might install.php or upgrade.php:

http://www.example.com/path/to/convert.php

From there, proceed as directed by the converter.

That was my first intent: the link is broken !!!
By the way what is the first file... the second file ...?
I haven't donwnloaded the newest version of SMF ?

The link seems to work fine for me?

in full:

The first file you need from that message is convert.php. The second file is invision_to_smf.sql. With these two files you should be able to do the conversion without a problem.

It's an example. Replace www.example.com/path/to with the URL to your SMF directory...

eba-stats.com/forum

eba-stats.com/forum2

Make sure both boards are on the same database, then go to http://www.eba-stats.com/forum2/convert.php and follow the steps. If you run into any errors, post them here and we'll see what we can do to fix them for you.

Each board occupy one different (I think...) database of the 2 I have at my server...
from where I upload the file
convert.php
to eba-stats/forum2
?

Oldiesmann

Well, if both boards are on different databases, it's a bit more complicated.
Make sure that either both boards are using the same MySQL user account or that both MySQL user accounts have access to both databases.

You upload both convert.php and invison_to_smf.sql to eba-stats.com/forum2
