Have just trialled a phpbb2>smf conversion which went without a hitch (hooray!).

I have a few more bits to sort out before launching the new forum, so I'll obviously need to re-import the latest posts from my active phpbb board when I'm ready. Do I simply 'overwrite' my test forum with another conversion, or do I need to delete all posts/user info, etc from my test forum before I do another, final conversion?

Congratulations on the succesful conversion ;)

Yes, the converter will overwrite the existing forum and it'll do the cleaning of the tables for you.
