Embedding video clips

I have been trying to embed windows media player in the news box to play some clips. The embedding works fine, but since I've added code to a template the embedded object keeps reloading every time you go to a new thread, page, or any action that requires a new page, since I put the code in index.template.php (I'm using the SMFBlue theme).

My questions is how or where do I put the embedded video clilp so that it keeps playing without being reloaded?

I am working on a mod that is kind of similar.  But it picks up the music people have uploaded and the  user selects the songs they want to listen to.  I guess it can be changed with this twist.  Take a look.  http://kevmundial.com/board/index.php?action=media
