Help with displaying NEWS

Ok, I can display all the boards that I have guest access to with the

(include_once('http://www.websiteaddress/forum/SSI.php');
ssi_boardNews($board = 1, $limit = null, $start = null, $length = null, output_method = 'echo');
?>)
what I would like to display on my website is the line of NEWS at the top of the forum. (just above the home, help, search, etc buttons here in this forum) also, it only displays 1 message up there, how can I display say 3 or more at once on the forum page.
