Post Convert prob ipb 2.

Trying to convert friends board fom IPB 2 to 1.1,But am getting this error with post convert.

Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes

Obviously it is because posts are very long (Short Stories) but is there any way round this.
