Can you add images via upload to a post inline?

I want to be able to upload images to a post and have thumbnails created but not have the images at the bottom, I want to add them where I want them without having to put an image link from where I uploaded it.  The reason think its a good idea is for sites that have tutorials in their forums for things like photoshop tutorials etc.  When you post a tutorial its best to have pictures as examples after the description of what to do and then you obviously continue with more descriptions and then more images.
