Upgraded to Flashchat but it hangs?

Well, I took the advice and upgraded to FlashChat v4.4.2 (from version 3.9.3.0).

I tried first by keeping the config.php and config.srv.php and upgraded my old installation. That installed ok, but then when I would try to load the chat the screen would just hang after displaying the background image.

Then I cleaned out my old flashchat database tables and did a fresh install. I specified Simple Machines 1.1 as the CMS and told it to look at the ID / Membername / passwd fields, md5 encryption, and specified all of the other information as it seemed logical.

After a clean install I got the same results. I am not sure why this is happening because I get absolutely no feedback with the Flash interface. Has anybody else experienced similar results? I was one of the first people to integrate the flashchat on here awhile back, but since it's been so long and now that I'm integrated with Joomla I have probably forgotten something important. Sigh.
