What happens when you do the bridge?

I am developing my portal and I want to test the SMF bridge on Mambo. Problem is that the portal is not ready yet and I didn´t want people going there "before the house is clean"
So I wished to know:

1. If when I make the bridge the users will get any kind of message informing about the portal
2. If It can be a problem to do the bridge, when mambo is on a subdirectory, and then move it to the main directory
3. If it can damage the database anyhow (Mambos or SMFs)

Not unless you send one.

As long as you do not have your site tangled in Apache redirects, subdomains are not a problem.

3. If it can damage the database anyhow (Mambos or SMFs)

No damage to databases.
