Well something has happend to my database and I know not what.  In the forum itself you can't post links without them being disrupted and useless.  Other issue are occuring as well and Ichbin has been helping me out but he is stumped to now.  Is there a way to retain the forum information that has been collected fix the database and reinstall the information back into the forum?

I need some major help on this one.

Hi,

The problem is effecting signatures and posts alike?

I noticed that it's dropping in

<span style="margin: 0 -0.5ex 0 0;"> </span>

In the middle of the photobucket link so it appears like

To begin with can you try running repair settings   What is repair_settings.php? and repair all files in Admin Panel / Forum Maintenance

Did that no help so far.  Very weird sittuation.  Anyway to save all of the collected information and then reinstall SMF or correct the DB without loosing everything?

Here's what I have done so far. At first I was attributing the problem to a mod. So I removed ALL mods. The problem was still there. It seems to (for lack of a better phrase) parse the posts and signature wrong. If you type a URL that is 15 characters or less the link will be printed to the post fine. But if it's longer than 15 characters thats when you see part of the code printed with the link. It even adds and takes away spaces in the post. After that I replaced all the files and restored them to a default install. Still the problem persists. I then made a backup of the database, installed it on a test site of mine (which was working fine) and the problem appeared there as well after the backup. Last, I told him to come here and ask you guys how he can repair this without losing any information. It appears to be a database problem after seeing it doing the same thing on my test forum. I'm hoping you guys can get something out of this, or have some way of saving the database without losing anything.

So is this problem historic or is it still creating the errors?

ie - If a new member enters a URL longer than 15 characters does the problem still happen?

Try this solution in Admin Panel / Edit Features & Options / Layout & Optiions / Break up words with more letters than: - Set that to zero

That seemed to fix the link posting problem and the signature problem. However, there is still a weird "white" page after posting. It's like, when you post it goes to a blank white page that has the link back to the post, where you are posting. :) Does that make sense?

So does anyone have any idea why this creen pop up between posts?  Is it going to cause an issue?

Fizzy

I can only assume that they may be a result of the ebay ads - they are certainly causing the page to be invalid xhtml

I disabled the news fader and the problem still persists. Any other tricks up your sleeve?

What number is the default theme? It's not #1

Let me rephrase.

SMF Default Template = Theme 1
SMF Classic Template = Theme 2
All other Mod Themes should carry their own number for any forum.

SMF Default Theme is not there. Should we assume that it has been overwritten by Helios?

IchBin™

How are you verifying that? Or should I say, how do I verify that? The default theme is set to not be allowed for memebers to choose. I've now set the default theme to be selectable. You can access it by going to this link.

Is this what you're talking about?

That's the url I had been trying on - but it is still helios

Where I'm going here  -  If we see the same problem in SMF default then it's not template related

IchBin™

Ok, so when logged in the URL http://stc007rc.com/MGTFORUM/index.php?theme=1 goes directly to the default theme. When I'm not logged in it goes directly to the Helios theme.
So I figured that would be because it wasn't set to allow users to select there own theme. I changed that and now it works. I just posted a test in the default theme and I still get the white page. If stc007 doesn't mind I will give you my login to take a look at things if needed.

No problem with me.  I just want to see it work the way it's supposed to.

MGT_STC007

So what do we think guys?  Is it going to be ok?  Can we put TP back on it?
