Using logAction for non-forum web page

Well you might of picked up that I have a website that is intergrated with SMF (well built around SMF to be honest). If a user is logged into the forum my wepages will show different content and will be able to show their member name etc.

I was looking round the SMF code and noticed logAction in Sources/Subs.php.
I thought perhaps I could use it so Who's Online shows which page they are on.

doesn't seem to doanything.

does action have to bee something specific and what?
does someone know how I would correctly use this?
