First of all I would like to say 'hello' to community.

For 3 months I was going thru tons of useful posts concernig SMF, till now I was able to find solution to all problems.
However with current issue I cannot find any suitable answer in community resources.

Here is description of my problem:
Livesite: hxxp:www.pbforum.pl [nonactive]
Instalation folder: root
SMF ver: SMF 1.1 RC1
Theme: SAF Orange for 1.1 RC1 with slight changes concerning artwork only
Lang ver: Polish, English
Browser: IE 6.0 (and FF 1.5)
Hosting: best commercial hosting available in my country, I run numerous PHP/MySQL pages on my virtual server

Problem:
When displaying any page in Internet Explorer 6.0 I get following results showing up:
- rarely - just blank page
- very often - just a header and few lines of text or even html code
- often - just a part of forum is displayed
- rarely - sometimes it displays correctly.

The very same forum runs smooth and clean with Firefox, previous and 1.5 versions. No wrong displays and / or random display.

Already tried:
- changing language to English
- using default theme
- using default IE settings
- cleaning history
- cleaning cookies
- reinstaling theme
- re-uploading SMF files

I am posting this question to this part of forum because I suspect that it might be server settings related problem
Would appreciate any comments or suggestions concernig above issue.

Also please do excuse me if my description is not detailed egnough or I missed answers to my problem that are already somewhere in the community resources. I have spent hours already looking for some hint :-(

Tnx
Mike

Hi,

Try removing your hit.stat.pl javascript and see if that makes a difference. IE doesn't handle invalid code as well as Firefox does.

Fizzy - seems that problem is solved.

For the benefit of the community - I will describe, what was the problem:

I have been going thru lines of code and could not identify anything that was causing problems in IE.
First I was little suprised with Fizzy's answer - I have never place any script in forum files.

The solution was quite easy: after Fizzy's advice I thoroughly checked virtual server specs and found, that if I do not specifically disable the feature my hosting provider automaticaly attach to every executed file script counting visits.

Thanks for your help

Fizzy

Hey you're welcome.

It seemed a bit odd to find that bit of javascript below the </HTML> tag :)
Glad you got it sorted :)

I'm afraid it's not a part of SMF.
I suggest you try Googling for it.
