Boards not found on server

Did a clean install of RC2 and all went perfectly.  I added a couple of categories with 5 or 6 boards each.  All is well in the admin side, but when you try to go to a board, it says it doesn't exist:

The requested URL /forum/index.php/board,1.0.html was not found on this server.

Anybody got any ideas?  I downloaded and checked the settings file and all looks right there.

I figured it out.  Even though I AM running on Apache 2.x server, if I check the box for seach engine-friendly url's, it breaks the thing.  It must only work for Apache 1.3 or it is buggy.
