Automatic post creation after successful registration?

Using 1.0.5..

Just as the topic says.  I've followed all the instructions here to add custom profile fields, and make them required during registration, now I'm running out of steam trying to figure out how to add one additional post-registration action -- rather than send out an administrative email, I'd like to automatically generate a post on behalf of the user..

I've looked at Subs-Post.php and Post.php but there doesn't seem to be any straightforward way to cause a post to happen from Register.php, such as the AdminNotify() function.  Basically all I'm looking for is something along the lines of:

NewTopic($ID_BOARD, $ID_MEMBER, $post_topic, $post_body);

That I could call from Sources/Register.php

Is there a function to do this elsewhere that I'm missing, or would implementing such a thing be fairly straight forward?  I can't seem to get it figured out..
