Logging in Problems

OK, I don't know what happened but this is the story.

Some point today I tried to change my email address on my profile, and once I changed it I got logged out (for whatever reason). I assume it was to verify my email address but that comes later. Basically, I got logged out and tried to log back in. Whenever I hit "login" it told me I had tried to login 10 seconds ago - this CONTINUED for hours. I then deleted all my cookies and then it asked me to re-activate my account which I just did. The point is it *shouldn't* of kept telling me I couldn't log back in, and required me to delete my cookies. Equally if it needs verification on the email then it should say that it is going to log us out.
