phpbb2 Importer (not converter)

Is there a utility that will import the data from an existing phpbb2.0.19 database, into a new SMF 1.05 install database? (yep, that's two different databases)

I really rather not use the existing database itself due to a couple XSS exploits that have infected users with a nasty (in the wild) virus. I suspect the exploit is based upon phpbb code more so than the actual data as even going through the db manually and removing all suspect items, upgrading to the latest version of phpbb 48 hours ago, we got hit again with the same exploit and even in the EXACT same location today.

Yes you can, as long as the SMF database user has permission to open phpBB's database. If your host provides cPanel or similiar software, you can set these permissions by adding SMF's database user to phpBB's database. After that you should be able to convert your phpBB forum to SMF using the converter without any problems.
