I am getting ready to do a first-time setup of SMF. This forum will support 10 of our virtual tour websites.

Should I install 1.1.10 now, or should I wait for 2.0 Release, or install the 2.0 final candidate?

How much trouble is it to go from 1.1.x to 2.0.x ?

Thanks very much!

I should say go for 1.1.10 although there are no known security problems in 2.0 RC's yet. Both are pretty much safe to use. 2.0 has many inbuilt features which will remove much of your hassle to get the modifications installed in different themes or like paid subscriptions. You as a charter already have 2.0 RC2 and can you that instead of the public release currently.

On a stability level, 1.1.10 is the one as there will be fixes in 2.0 here and there which might cause a few problems for you.

It is actually easy to upgrade 1.1.x to 2.x unless some really naughty things are done with the database.

Upgrading from 1.1.10 to 2.0 will be a large upgrade.  What that means to you is it will be just like installing in that you will unzip the package maintaining the file structure and then FTP the files to your host overwriting the existing files.

Because 2.0 is still a release candidate, upgrading from the RCs to the final version will most likely be the same as I described above.

It's basically a personal preference.
