Ad Management mod 3.2 Released SMF 2.0.x and SMF 1.1.x Support!

Ad Management mod V 3.2

Link to mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=255

Language Files
http://www.smfads.com/forums/index.php?board=11.0

*You must be logged in to be able to download the files*

This version of the Ad Management mod brings a lot of new features to the table. Version 2.3 includes placement for “Skyscraper” ads as well as individual placement on threads and in between posts. You can also view reports on your ads to see how often they are getting displayed. New placements such as: in-between categories, after child board and after the last post have all been included
It can be found in the Administration panel under the heading “Configuration”. There is a new link there called “Ad Management” .
Clicking on this link will bring up the configuration screen for the Ad Management Mod. In here you will see 4 tabs, Edit ads, Add ads, Reports and Credits.

Edit Tab

In this section you can modify the ad code, change the placement or delete the ad code. This is why you want to give your ad code a good name. You click the name of the ad code you want to edit, then the rest is the same as adding an ad code.

Adding Ads

To add your ads in this version is quite simple. Go into the Admin panel of SMF and under the Configuration heading click on Ad Management then click on Add Ads. Under this tab you will see several sections, the first being Name. This should be filled in with what you want to call this particular ad. For example, if it's Google ads you might want to type “Google” (no quotes). This is done to identify the ad code so that you can easily edit it later on, or to see reports on your ad.
Next is the content section, in here is where you place the ad code. In this version of the ad mod it can handle both HTML and PHP languages. Place your Google code in here or any other ad code you may have.
After your ad code has been placed you come to a box that says “Which boards should this ad display in “. In this box you insert the number of the board you would like the ads to be displayed in. For example, if you have a board on your forum named “Rules” and it happens to be the first board on your forum, then clicking on it would give you a url of this:
http://www.yourwebsite.com/index.php?board=1.0
The board number is at the end of the url. So in that box should be put simply the number “1”  (no quotes). If you want to display this ad in multiple boards, you can put 1,2 (where 2 is the number of the second board) to display it in both boards 1 and 2. If you want to display your ad code on every board, simply leave this input box empty.
The next option is “Display ads within posts”. This works the same way as our previous field, only here you are inputing were in between the posts you want the ads to be displayed. So if you want the ads to be displayed between the first and third posts, then in this field you would put “1,3” (no quotes). If you don’t want this ad to display inside any post, leave the input box empty.
Displaying ads after categories works much the same way. You need to put the category id in the input box of the category you want to display the ads after. If you hover over the link for the category you can find out what the ID is. If you want to display after multiple categories, put “1,2”(no quotes).
The following option is “type'. You can choose between “HTML” or “PHP” (google ads display as HTML). The rest of the options under this tab are pretty much self explanatory. One thing that is very important to remember, when placing “Skyscraper” ads, you must get the appropriate code to fill in the “content” field under this tab. Horizontal ads will NOT work for vertical (Skyscraper) ads.
Clicking the “Add” button at the bottom of this page will save your configuration for the ad.

Report Tab

Clicking this tab will give you a short summary on what ads are placed and where they are placed on your forum, plus how many hits they are getting.

Settings Tab

You can now have various settings on how your ads appear. The settings are:
- Disable all ads if you are an admin
- Disable all ads on a global scale
- Disable reports
- Make post ads either look like actual posts or not

Permissions

Just like in the previous versions, you can have permissions on who is able to view the ads. By default everyone views the ads. To deny users from viewing ads, you go into Admin > Permissions > Modify (the group you want to change the permission for).
You then look for the title "Enable ads" and either disallow or allow the ad code to display.

Ad Management mod V 1.5

This mod will install ads on the top of your page right under the toolbar. You can either choose to have it display on all the pages on your forum, or on three sections of you board. On the board index, thread index, and the thread itself. This mod allows you to turn on and off your ads as you wish. It also allows you to input your ad code in the features and settings section.
New features have been added so that you can install ads on the bottom of your forum and also after the first post. You are also able to disable ads on a per membergroup basis.

When you add your code into the section, remember that you should always open and close any HTML tags properly. Otherwise you might have issues.

Is this mod compatible with 1.06?
I get this error when I try to install this mod:

Install Actions for archive ad_mod_rc2_v1-2.zip:
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

electrohome88, it would be nice to have it change like that. for instance, if you have a site with different interests, like boating and camping then when people enter the boating forum they would see banners advertising boat sites, when they enter the camping forum it would then show banners for camping supply outlets....etc etc.

still a very nice mod and will still use it.......look forward to the progression of it as well.

glad you got it to work, and i'll think about adding a feature that enables you do put the ad on the left side or the right, instead of just the middle

i added a new version today. i had all evening off, so i desided to take a few hours and code some new features.
One of the biggest, is the abilty to remove ads depending on the users group. This is done through their permissions, so select the group permissions. To disable the ads for that group, you just uncheck the permission.

I have also made it so that you can now display ads on the bottom of every page.

And lastly, i made it possible to display an ad after the first post in a thread (Thanks to Joomlaspan for the idea)
