Why must EVERY MOD i try to install request FTP info?

Then to top that off it tells me that some files need to have thier permissions changed. WHY not list the files that need to be changed in these mods? I have yet to find a mod here that has a list of files that need to be changed.

I have tried the user online mod and the sticky mod

FTP information isn't stored on the server. So either you have to enter it each time, or get your browser to save the info.

And the mods do tell you, if you open them up.

well i did and nothing.

Really sucks that i have sat here half the night trying to do this and in the end natta!

I mean the purpose of this SUPPOSED quick easy upload/package thing should be so that all we do is click our mod that we want and it do the job without all of this other stuff.

give it a try yourself.

i'll send you my log in info and ftp info via pm.

As i am not even sure how to describe what the exact problem is.

You haven't told me your forum url, so passwords are useless. But I don't need to log in.

Does it give you error messages? what do they say?

BTW any chance of you explaining to me why the forum seems to forget my password at times? happens to my other admin as well.

Plus usually when we are in the admin panal is when we get the boot and it ask us for a password for the admin panal. I then usually have to go and completely log out of the forum and then back in but once i am in and head for the admin panal i go straight to it without the password prompt to get in?

Those are server issues, see if you can ask your host for help.

The admin panel requires your password once a session, even if your browser remembers you. You can turn that off (although I don't recommend it) at Admin -> Features and Options -> Disable administration security
