PHP Error When Trying To Make New Post

I installed SMF through Fantastico, provided by my host, and it all seemed ok until I went to start a new thread and I received this error message...

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/abdpqj/public_html/pbleaguesforum/Sources/Post.php on line 518

Could you let me know what I could do to resolve this issue.

Sorry, I posted too swiftly! Had a look through the relevant file, and it was a case of a mysterious "K" being inserted on a line, before a comment, so it looked like this...

K   //comment

Removing the K made it work fine.
