USER MAIL ACTIVATION

SMF Version: SMF 1.0.6
I have a problem with my usermail activation(i use smf 1.0.6). I dont know how to setup SMTP in yahoo mail and users recieve activation emails. I try some different ways but i had no result.
PLEASE HELP!

edit; i look into forum error logging and see cup of errors with same name; ''Ran into problems sending Mail. Error: 535 authorization failed (#5.7.0)" - what is this and what i suppose to do to make this who i want ?
my mail is in yahoo mail, but given smtp server seems not working, or i dont know how to start it this option.

upgrading to the latest stable release may be a good start.

i upgrade last night and i had no result. my question is how to setup SMTP using gmail or yahoo mail to can users recieve mails from webmaster/forum admins ?
