SSI and Logout, no session

I am putting the logout SSI on my home page of the site and I pull a lot of the other SSI stuff like stats and welcome text, etc...  Everything works except the logout button, it won't put the session id into the link after sesc=, I tried looking through the load.php, loginout.php, index, settings, ssi, and was not able to figure out how to fix this, anybody have any ideas?  Thank you in advance.

fyi, the logout does work on the sii examples page, just not when i use the code on another page.
the ssi file is included on the top of that page.
