How can you rename a thread and all the posts that have been made to it?

What I've had to do is move the thread to a new section and select "Change the topic's subject" and "Change every message's subject"... and then I move it back to its original location .. lol

How can this be done without having to move it back and forth?

in SMF 1.1 RC2 you can click in the area of the Subject of the Thread and change it there.

Ok but what would you do if the thread has 100+ replies to it? Change each one individually?

I will move this to the mod request board.  On the mean time you can do this query.

UPDATE {db_prefix}messages
SET subject = 'NEW SUBJECT'
WHERE ID_TOPIC = 'ID OF THE TOPIC'

Well I have a few mods to work on.  Once I'm done with those I can make this mod.

the name of this thread is "Rename whole thread"

The Mod Request board is where this thread resides. when i view the list of threads in this board i see this thread, if i click the table Rename whole thread is located in, it changes to a text box, while logged in as Admin, and you can change the name of the thread and it affects all the posts in that thread.

am i missing something here?, why would you need a mod.

It doesn't change the names of the posts already made...

Ok I submitted this mod yesterday.  You just have to wait for it to be approved.  I'll post it here so that you can test it and see if something is wrong.

The only thing is that the "Re:" gets chopped off since in RC3 that part is dynamic and it doesn't get added to the subject field in the database,
