I was wondering where I can disable GZIP.
Because with the hosting I have, with gzip enabled, I just see wierd characters.

How do I disable GZIP NOT THROUGH THE FORUM (I can't even get into it :P)

Ben_S,
He was asking how he could do it NOT via the forum, seeing he cannot even access it.

The OP,
Try editting Settings.php.

On 1.1 RC2 (and I believe 1.0.x also), the gzip setting lives in the database.

Set "value" for variable "enableCompressedOutput" to 0 in (prefix)settings.

Fair enough, use repair_settings.php from the downloads section.
