@ahrasis

Hello bro I am interested in making an android application for a smf mod forum called hxxp:cit2.net [nonactive]

I am not the forum owner but I am a high community member and I would like to make the application so the forum gets improved.

Can you help me making an application I show one of your topics and it seems like you know how to do it , I am a bit retarted and I would like your help for that.

We are not android programmers... and, in general, we suggest that individual site applications are not worth the effort, since a properly responsive site will be more useful, all around...

But we can't deny the benefits of a good Android app,

Kindred

What benefits?     Most people have too many apps on their phones already.

Also, as I have already said...

The only argument I can see that's still valid is push notifications and even that may be going away sometime if mobile browsers support the same things as desktop notifications.

And they already do.

Does iOS Safari? Also, really have no idea about the state of these on Android, though I guess most people use Chrome which should.

Gwenwyfar

According to info I'm seeing, both Firefox, Chrome and Safari support it. I know Firefox supports it on Android too since I use it for one site.

Caniuse says no for iOS, which is still a major part of the app economy. Which is a shame, I don't really want to have to write an app just to get notifications.

Gwenwyfar

Won't be long for that to happen it seems: Development status

Easily arguable. Here's a list...

Yes, but when the XenForo developers publicly commented on how terrible the TT port for XF 2 was, that makes me stop and wonder how much bad code they're shifting.

I would never subject my users to tapatalk....  their coding is subpar and all the other issues with regarding apps over a normal site are still true.

I lost a user or two when I was managing a forum due to not adding it. I don't regret it :P  (Not to mention no one else had a problem with the forum not being an app)

I can't wait to deal with this problem in my next forum project, which will start and end with 'if you can persuade Tapatalk to support the features that this platform has, I'll happily support it' knowing full well there is more chance of me becoming an Olympic athlete for the 2020 Olympics than that happening.

Kindred

Championship beard grooming is not an Olympic event?

Hahahahaha, nope. :(

But imagine a forum setup that's totally driven around subaccounts, taken to hardcore levels of setup. Lemme know when TapaTalk supports that ;)

I have never used this app , TBH , my Android device can not support this app , and last month my sister crashed the data on the phone to install hxxp:it.my [nonactive] sister downloaded it, but the data on the phone was lost. maybe , we need to install a data recovery app to protect phone data ,
