Yes, i get those often as well.  Adsense does not like any content that is behind membergroup permissions if not visible to guest.

So just leave them be?
i was just worried that ad sense would stop serving t the site as a whole.
do you ior is there  any benefit from using auto ads( and related code)?

vbgamer45

I am not sure what the answer is I have millions of pages I am not sure if it matters more for smaller sites.

Auto ads I don't do since the placements can appear in odd places.

Oh thank you, so you use this mod exclusively for ad placement on SMF.
My feeling about auto-ads was as you reinforced, that it would place ads in odd places

vbgamer45

Yeah it's a pity. It just doesn't appear right.
Other issues with adsense you can no longer put a third party ad url if their ads don't show.

Is there any other option for (adsense) ad placement?

vbgamer45

There is not that would make a difference it in the ad showing or not.

Ran in to a slight problem using Google auto ads with this mod (by the way, it can actually work pretty nicely over time - Google learns), the "Display ads on every page right below the menu" option will inevitably end up causing policy violations since action=login is "Valuable Inventory: No content" and there's no way to exclude an url parameter on Google.

Now, this can basically be worked around by changing the options to "Display ads on board index", "Display ads on message index", and "Display ads on the post page" - but thought I'd mention this, since Google is slowly driving people towards the auto ads, and of course the easiest way to go would be to just include the code on every page possible.

Yes,  it's a big pain for me as well. The login page/register page are easy to filter.

The harder ones are if you have private forums.  Google will just see the login page. Example would be your unreadreplies if ad is displayed there.

currently these two are sitting as policy violations.

I did have "Display ads on every page right below the menu" checked but have changed it to what you suggest, do i need to request a review at this point or will they resolve themselves?
i do not have auto ads enabled at this juncture, mainly because you cant exclude pages with fragments and or parameters so it was moot.

Aleksi "Lex" Kilpinen

I don't believe it requires a review, because you are trying to stop showing ads - not fixing the violation to allow ads to be shown.

I'm getting an error on the mod setup. There is an error in the picture. I wonder where did I go wrong

vbgamer45

I think we discussed this many years ago. Is there some way to exclude specific topics from displaying the ads, i.e. topics that Adsense deems against its policy? It could be adding exceptions with topic ids.

vbgamer45

There is not at this time. Yeah google is a pain about that.

I think it is vital for a forum, given that one cannot control content.

shadav

what I did, not for that purpose but...
I use tiny portal, so I hide the right side ads and placed the code into the portal's right side and then used the portal settings to limit where the ad is viewed
ie not in the admin

you could then also tell it not to display in specific boards

spiros

The problem is not specific boards (there is a setting for that in the mod), but that any board could have a flagged topic.
